(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission has informed Merck KGaA of a preliminary finding, accusing the German group of providing incorrect or misleading information during its investigation into Merck's acquisition of Sigma-Aldrich.
More specifically, the Commission has criticised it for not providing information regarding a major innovation project for certain laboratory chemicals.
Brussels has specified that in the event of confirmation that Merck and Sigma-Aldrich either intentionally or negligently violated merger rules, they could be fined up to 1% of their annual worldwide turnover.
