7 per cent to 5.6 million in May compared to last year, assisted by a lower number of public holidays and fewer weather-related flight cancellations.
In the first five months of the year, Frankfurt airport traffic rose 4.3 per cent, the German airport operator said.
Airports in the group's international portfolio also delivered a strong performance in May, with Ljubljana airport in Slovenia reporting a 25.5 per cent surge in traffic.
Affected for many months by the terrorist threat, Antalya airport in Turkey served some 2.6 million passengers last month, representing a 38.3 per cent increase.
