Deutsche Telekom: expands deal with Telefonica Deutschland
(CercleFinance.com) - Deutsche Telekom and Telefonica Deutschland said on Wednesday that they have signed a ten-year contract to expand their cooperation in fixed networks.
Under the deal, Telefonica Deutschland will market Telekom's "fibre to the home" access services (FTTH) to its customers, while also continuing to use VDSL and vectoring wholesale products of the German telecommunications giant.
The agreement will become effective in spring 2021, the companies said.
Together with Vodafone, the two phone operators are also working to eliminate around 6,000 so-called "white spots" in mobile coverage with a focus on rural areas, they said.
