Continental: lion's share of Chinese market - but tyres flat
(CercleFinance.com) - Continental has announced that in H1 2022 it will be the leading supplier of passenger car tyres in the Chinese market.
The manufacturer cites a study by the trade publication "China Tire Dealer" of new vehicle models introduced to the Chinese market in H1 2022: Continental has overtaken its competitors and is now the leading supplier of tyres fitted to cars leaving the factory.
The publication reveals that Continental is the most popular tyre brand among car manufacturers during the period analysed, notably strengthening its position as an OE manufacturer, especially for electric and premium vehicles.
Continental said that thanks to its strong development expertise, Continental has earned an outstanding reputation for the performance of its tyres: it is proud of the enormous trust that car manufacturers in the Chinese market place in it.
In 2009, China became the world's largest car manufacturing country and since then it has also been the world's largest car market. Annual vehicle production in China now represents about 30% of all vehicle production worldwide.
In spite of these seemingly upbeat comments, Continental shares are pretty deflated this morning - down 1.3%, underperforming the German market by about 1%.
