BMW: largest US automotive exporter in 2020, once again
(CercleFinance.com) - BMW said on Friday that in 2020 it remained the leading exporter of cars from the United States for the seventh consecutive year.
In a statement, the Munich based group said that its Spartanburg, South Carolina plant exported 218,820 of the 361,365 vehicles produced on the site last year.
These exports were worth over 8.9 billion dollars, the group said.
According to BMW, the main export markets for the Spartanburg factory are China (23.3% of volumes), Germany (12.9%), South Korea (7.8%), Canada (6%) and Russia (5.3%).
The site, which has been part of the group since 1994, currently produces nearly 1,500 vehicles per day, two-thirds of which are exported to 125 countries.
