BMW: US car sales down 15% in first quarter
(CercleFinance.com) - German premium carmaker BMW's vehicle sales in the United States fell by 15% year-on-year in the first three months of the year, the company said in a statement late on Wednesday.
The automaker's US brand sales reached 59,455 units in the first quarter, compared to 70,227 in the same period a year ago.
BMW said sales were hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has forced the company to close several showrooms in the country.
US sales for the BMW Group as a whole, which also includes the Mini brand, fell by more than 17% to 64,692 vehicles in the past quarter.
