BMW: names Oliver Zipse as new CEO from August
(CercleFinance.com) - BMW named its production chief Oliver Zipse to succeed chairman of the board of management Harald Krüger, who will retire next month.
Zipse has been a member of the board of management of BMW since 2015 and is currently responsible for the production division. He began his professional career in the company in 1991 as a trainee, BMW said.
The decision was made in Spartanburg, South Carolina (USA), where the supervisory board is meeting to discuss current business developments in the US, as well as production.
Spartanburg is BMW's biggest plant worldwide.
The German premium carmaker said Zipse will provide the group with "fresh momentum in shaping the mobility of the future".
