BMW: posts record group sales in March
(CercleFinance.com) - German premium carmaker BMW on Thursday said that group sales rose by 2.
8% in March to 263,319 vehicles, reaching the best-ever single sales month in the company's history.
Growth was lifted once again by the group's largest market, China, where sales of the BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce brands jumped by 12.5% to 60,717 vehicles last month, it said.
Sales in Europe rose by 3.1% Europe to 131,657 units, while sales in the USA only manged to inch up 0.4% to 35,997 cars.
"The year is progressing as we expected, given the ongoing model changeover of the BMW 3 Series sedan and headwinds in markets worldwide,” said Pieter Nota, the head of customer, brands and sales.
For the first quarter of the year, BMW's sales remained virtuall flat, up 0.1% at 605,333 vehicles.
