BMW: to examine Commission's objections on emissions
(CercleFinance.com) - BMW Group will examine the objections provided by the European Commission and submit a reply to the EU's powerful antitrust arm, the German carmaker said on Friday.
Earlier today, European antitrust regulators said they have sent BMW, Daimler and VW a statement of objections because they believe that the three German carmakers restricted competition on emission-cleaning technology.
In a statement, BMW said that it will examine the objections "in depth," but noted that legal coordination between industry players should not be equated with unlawful cartel agreements.
BMW also noted that its exhaust gas treatment systems differ from those of competitors, and that there is "no evidence" of agreements on the use of unlawful defeat devices.
The BMW share is currently up 0.9% in Frankfurt.
