BMW: takes part in Graphcore's latest funding round
(CercleFinance.com) - British machine intelligence firm Graphcore said on Tuesday that it has completed a new 200 million dollar funding round, valuing the company at 1.
7 billion dollars.
German carmaker BMW and US technology giant Microsoft have joined the round, Graphcore said, with Microsoft expressing "strong interest" in the firm's intelligence processing unit (IPU).
As far as BMW is concerned, the group said Graphcore's multiple machine learning techniques are "well-suited" for intelligent voice assistants or self-driving vehicles, while also presenting the possibility of reducing development time and complexity.
