BMW: new batteries achieve 260 kilometre range
(CercleFinance.com) - BMW has unveiled new high-voltage batteries that are able to ensure vehicle autonomy over a distance of 260 kilometres - an increase of almost 30%.
Based on cell capacity of 120 ampere hours and a gross energy content of 42.2 kilowatt hours, the high-voltage batteries enable the BMW i3 (120 Ah) to reach a combined power consumption of 13.1 kWh/100 km, with combined CO2 emissions of 0 g/km.
Meanwhile, the BMW i3s (120 Ah) can reach a combined power consumption of 14 kWh/100 km, with combined CO2 emissions of 0 g/km.
The BMW i3 accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds, while the BMW i3s completes the standard sprint in 6.9 seconds, the German car maker said.
