BMW: extends a spare parts centre

(CercleFinance.com) - The automobile giant has announced the inauguration of the extension of its international spare parts distribution center in Strasbourg.

This extension required 18 months of work and capex of 12 million euros. It aims to improve customer service through better parts availability, even faster availability and a significant increase in capacity, the group said.

The site, which employs 160 people, is now one of the largest for BMW Group and provides the logistics of spare parts for the entire eastern half of France, South West Germany and Switzerland.

Thanks to this extension of 17,750 m2, the centre's area has almost doubled to 42,000 m2, which significantly increases the store's storage capacity, which has risen from 85,000 locations to over 100,000, and 67,000 references stored to over 80,000 for the BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad brands by 2020.
