8% rise in monthly car sales to 169,538 vehicles in January, its best-ever performance for January, helped by growth in Asia and Latin America.
BMW brand sales increased by 3.4% in the past month, to a total of 148,400 vehicles, driven by sales of the new BMW 5 Series sedan.
The Mini brand achieved global sales growth of 7%, with 20,929 vehicles delivered to customers in January.
BMW is in the midst of "the biggest model offensive in the company's history," the German carmaker says.
