Nestlé: joins initiative to rethink future of plastics
(CercleFinance.com) - Nestlé said on Wednesday that it is joining Ellen MacArthur's initiative to rethink and redesign the future of plastics, starting with packaging.
The Swiss food giant has joined the "New Plastics Economy" initiative with Austrian plastics maker Borealis and US supermarket group Walmart to work on ways to build a circular economy for plastic packaging.
"At Nestlé, we don't want any of our packaging, including plastics, to become waste or pollution," the group said.
The "New Plastics Economy" initiative already includes firms such as Coca-Cola, Danone, L'Oréal, PepsiCo, Unilever, and Veolia.
Nestlé has also signed the "New Plastics Economy" commitment, which unites over 400 organizations behind common targets to address plastic waste and pollution at its source.
