Nestlé: buys Canadian nutritional health firm Atrium.

(CercleFinance.com) - Nestlé, the world's largest food group, has agreed to buy Canada-based nutritional health firm Atrium Innovations for 2.
3 billion dollars in cash, as part of the Swiss group's drive into consumer healthcare.

Atrium, whose 2017 sales are expected to reach almost 700 million dollars, products such as probiotics, meal replacements and multivitamin lines.

Nestlé said it has acquired the Quebec-based firm from a group of investors led by Permira Funds.

The move supports Nestlé's pursuit of growth opportunities in consumer healthcare to complement the company's focus on its high-growth food and beverage categories, it added.

The transaction is expected to be closed in the first quarter of 2018.
