Dufry: wins tender to operate Hong Kong rail station stores
(CercleFinance.com) - Dufry has won a contract to operate the duty-free stores in the new station in Hong Kong, which will connect the city to mainland China with a high-speed rail link, the Swiss travel retailer said on Monday.
The company said the deal represents a "significant win" as part of its drive to develop more business in Asia and its strategy to expand into alternative channels other than airport retail.
The store development, which covers 1,500 square metres in all, will include the core categories of beauty, liquor and tobacco, confectionery, fashion as well as health and wellbeing, which Dufry says is "a very important category in the Asian market".
