ABB: chosen for Asia-Pacific clean energy project
(CercleFinance.com) - ABB will deliver technology for a green energy pilot project that aims to produce clean hydrogen in Australia and transport it to Japan.
The Swiss engineering group said on Tuesday that it will provide automation, electrification and instrumentation products for the project, one of the world's first efforts to commercialize technology to liquefy and transport hydrogen.
As part of the project, ABB has won an electrification and instrumentation contract in Australia and an automation contract in Japan from Kawasaki.
The facilities began to be built in 2019, and the pilot phase will operate for approximately one year from 2020.
The project has the potential to create 2 billion Australian dollars (about 1.2 billion euros) in exports nationally, positioning Australia as one of the world's biggest producers of hydrogen production.
