ABB: wins oilfield upgrade order in Abu Dhabi
(CercleFinance.com) - Swiss engineering group ABB has won a 79 million dollar order for the upgrade of the largest onshore oil field in Abu Dhabi, the company said on Monday.
ABB has been awarded an integrated automation, electrification and telecommunication order for the upgrade of the Bab Onshore Field by China's CPECC.
Spanning 1,200 square kilometres, the state-owned field will see its output increase from 420,000 to 450,000 barrels of oil per day by 2020, ABB said.
The upgrade will include 45 power and capacitor bank skids, as well as centralised and localised automation systems, it said.
Once installed, ABB's equipment is expected to reduce the oilfield's operating costs by 10%-to-15%.
