ABB: wins EV contract from VW's Electrify America
(CercleFinance.com) - Swiss engineering group ABB has been selected to supply charging stations as part of an electric vehicle infrastructure project - the biggest to date in the United States.
The chargers, which can recharge even the largest electric vehicle battery in under 15 minutes, are to be deployed in hundreds of charging stations around 17 metropolitan areas and along several highways.
Volkswagen's Electrify America plans to place chargers at intervals of up to 120 miles (195 kilometers).
By comparison, ABB's Terra system provides electric vehicles with a range of almost 200 miles (320 kilometers).
