ABB: selected to provide propulsion for a new superyacht
(CercleFinance.com) - ABB's propulsion systems will power Oceanco's new 115-metre superyacht, which has been inspired by Polynesian canoes, the Swiss engineering firm said on Thursday.
Dutch vessel maker Oceanco has chosen ABB's Azipod technology to propel its "visionary" superyacht Tuhura, that was featured at last month's Dubai International Boat Show, the company said.
ABB said Azipod propulsion system was first selected in 2004 for ferries belonging to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries that then became the largest and fastest ferries in Japan.
Since its launch in 1990, Azipod has received over 100 cruise ship orders.
