ABB: North Sea's offshore wind connection project delivered.
(CercleFinance.com) - Swiss engineering group ABB has executed the third offshore wind connection project for Dutch-German grid operator TenneT in the North Sea, the company said on Thursday.
The "DolWin2" high voltage direct current (HVDC) link connects offshore wind farms to the mainland grid, and has the capacity to supply more than a million households with renewable energy.
The project supports Germany's roadmap, which aims to generate more than 6.5 gigawatts (GW) of offshore wind power by 2020, and 15 GW by 2030.
