LafargeHolcim: placed under investigation regarding Jalabiy
(CercleFinance.com) - LafargeHolcim has announced that Lafarge SA has been placed under investigation in France, by the judges in charge of the instruction relating to the operation of the Syrian cement plant in Jalabiya by its subsidiary Lafarge Cement Syria between 2011 and 2014.
Lafarge SA acknowledges that the supervisory system of its Syrian subsidiary did not enable it to identify the failures that occurred as a result of an unprecedented violation of the bylaws and internal compliance rules by some people who left the group.
However, "Lafarge SA will appeal against those charges which do not fairly represent the responsibilities of Lafarge SA," the building materials group said, pointing out that it ordered an investigation once it became aware of the irregularities.
