Clariant: ethanol plant set for completion by end 2021
(CercleFinance.com) - Swiss speciality chemicals maker Clariant said on Wednesday that it expects the construction of its new ethanol production plant in Romania to be completed by the end of 2021.
In a statement today, the company announced that it is making "good progress" with the construction of its "sunliquid" refinery in Podari, in southwest Romania.
The plant received funding of over 40 million euros from the European Union and is built on a 10-hectare area, with access to a regional supply of feedstock, Clariant said.
Once operational, the plant will process around 250,000 tonnes of straw to produce 50,000 tonnes of ethanol on an annual basis, a carbon-neutral biofuel ready to be used in today's car technologies.
