Clariant: new bio-based polymer for cosmetics
(CercleFinance.com) - Clariant has developped a new bio-based polymer for cosmetics, derived from renewable hydrocarbon, with French start-up Global Bioenergies.
Based on Global Bioenergies' sugar-based isobutene, Clariant's new ingredient influences formulation viscosity and achieves specific properties for creams and lotions, the Swiss chemical firm said.
The product contains over 50% renewable carbon, and consequently meets the ISO standard for natural and organic cosmetic ingredients and products, Clariant said.
