Roche: collaboration with Eli Lilly in Alzheimer's disease
(CercleFinance.com) - Roche today announced that it has begun collaborating with Eli Lilly to support the development of the Swiss group's Elecsys Amyloid Plasma Panel (EAPP), an innovative blood test to facilitate the early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease.
This collaboration aims to improve the pathway to rapid and accurate diagnosis and treatment for patients, where up to 75% of people living with Alzheimer's disease symptoms are reportedly undiagnosed.
If approved, EAPP would be an additional tool to identify the low probability of amyloid pathology in symptomatic patients and determine whether they need further evaluation and testing that can confirm a diagnosis.
Roche says that the US FDA granted a breakthrough device designation to its EAPP in July, followed by 510(k) clearance for other tests in the group that identify early symptomatic Alzheimer's disease.
