Roche: launches new biomarker detector for cancer treatment
(CercleFinance.com) - Swiss drugmaker Roche announced on Tuesday the launch of a new assay for the detection of HER2, an important biomarker found in breast and gastric cancers.
This assay is currently being launched in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, as well as Latin America and Asia Pacific. It will also be submitted to the US Food and Drug Administration for approval, the group said.
The move comes as part of Roche's personalised healthcare strategy to provide treatment for patients who can benefit most from a specific medicine.
The detection of HER2 - human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 - can help to manage these aggressive cancers more effectively.
