Roche: EU approves drug combo for leukemia treatment
(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission has approved the combination of Venclyxto and MabThera for the treatment of adult patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia, an incurable blood cancer, Roche said on Thursday.
The approval is based on results from a phase III study which showed that treatment with Venclyxto plus MabThera reduced the risk of disease progression or death by 83% compared with current standard of care.
There are approximately 30,000 people suffering from chronic lymphocytic leukemia in Europe.
Venclexta/Venclyxto is being jointly developed by AbbVie and Roche.
