Roche: breast cancer treatment approved
(CercleFinance.com) - Roche announced on Friday evening that the European Commission has just approved Pertoss, a post-operative treatment of early HER2 breast cancer that has a high risk of recurrence.
HER2 cancer represents 15% to 20% of breast cancers. It is one of the most difficult forms to treat, as tumour cells have too many proteins on their surface.
Studies conducted by Roche have shown that after a year of treatment with Pertoss, Herceptin and chemotherapy, the risk of recurrence or death is reduced by 23% to 24%.
