Roche: wins FDA breakthrough therapy for autism treatment
(CercleFinance.com) - Roche received breakthrough therapy designation from the US Food and Drug Administration for an investigational oral treatment for people suffering from autism, the Swiss drugmaker said on Monday.
Balovaptan has shown the potential to improve social interaction and communication in people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), the firm said.
A phase II trial investigating balovaptan in children and adolescents is ongoing and other trials are being planned, Roche said.
