Roche: gets final EU approval for multiple sclerosis drug
(CercleFinance.com) - Roche has received European Union marketing authorisation for its multiple sclerosis drug Ocrevus, the Swiss biopharmaceutical company said on Monday.
The European Commission has granted marketing authorisation for patients with active relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis and for patients with the early primary progressive form of the disease.
The humanised monoclonal antibody - administered by intravenous infusion every six months - has already been approved in North America and Switzerland.
Multiple sclerosis affects approximately 700,000 people in Europe, of which around 96,000 have the highly disabling primary progressive form of the disease, Roche said in a statement.
