Novartis: to invest in biotherapeutics

(CercleFinance.com) - Novartis announced on Tuesday that it is going to invest 300 million dollars to expand its capabilities in next-generation biotherapeutics.


The Swiss company said that its investment project will be spread over several years in areas ranging from the production of active substances to the development of new treatments.

In detail, the group plans to invest 100 million dollars at its St. Johann campus in Basel to establish a biological platform that will enhance its biomedical research institute (NIBR).

In addition, 110 million dollars will be spent on the creation of a 'biocampus' in Menges (Slovenia) to be dedicated to good manufacturing practice (cGMP), non-GMP processes and technical development.
