Novartis: Sandoz launches generic of AstraZeneca's gefitinib
(CercleFinance.com) - Novartis' Sandoz said on Tuesday that it is launching a generic version of AstraZeneca's gefitinib lung cancer drug in 13 European countries.
In Europe lung cancer is the fourth most common cancer in both men and women, behind breast, prostate and colorectal cancer. Over 300,000 patients are diagnosed with the disease each year.
Sandoz said it plans to continue to expand into other countries through a phased rollout.
