Novartis: melanoma combo gets positive EU opinion
(CercleFinance.com) - A combination of two Novartis drugs has received a positive opinion from European health authorities for the treatment of melanoma, the Swiss drugmaker said on Friday.
The Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has adopted a positive opinion recommending approval of Tafinlar in combination with Mekinist for the adjuvant treatment of adult patients with stage-III melanoma with a BRAF V600 mutation, following complete resection, it said.
If approved, the treatment would become the first targeted combination therapy in the European Union for adjuvant treatment of melanoma.
