Novartis: former Pfizer executive named oncology chief
(CercleFinance.com) - Elizabeth Barrett, who formerly worked for Pfizer, has been appointed as Novartis' new oncology head, succeeding Bruno Strigini, who decided to retire for personal reasons.
The Basel-based drugmaker said Liz Barrett, currently global president of oncology at Pfizer, has been appointed CEO of Novartis Oncology and a member of the executive committee of Novartis, effective from 1 February.
Before joining Pfizer in 2009, she worked at Cephalon and Johnson & Johnson.
The appointment comes as the Swiss pharmaceutical group launches its revolutionary CAR-T therapy Kymriah, deemed a "paradigm-changing" immuno-cellular therapy to cancer patients in need.
