BlackBerry: third-quarter results beat projections

(CercleFinance.com) - Canada's BlackBerry on Friday reported third-quarter results that beat analysts' estimates, in particular helped by its cybersecurity business, news that has sent its stock up over 8% in premarket trading.

The Waterloo, Ontario-based company has reported operating earnings of 20 million dollars, or three cents a share, for the quarter ended 30 November.

Quarterly revenue rose by 23% year-on-year to 280 million dollars, as enterprise software and services sales jumped 26% from a year ago, to 275 million dollars.

BlackBerry said that it achieved sequential growth in revenue across all of its software businesses.

"I am pleased with our progress," said CEO John Chen. "Our pipeline is growing as we deliver against our product roadmap and execute on our go-to-market expansion," he added.

The NYSE-listed shares were up 8.3% in premarket trading after this report.
