BlackBerry: John Chen to remain CEO until 2023
(CercleFinance.com) - BlackBerry extended the contract of CEO John Chen until November 2023 on Thursday, citing the "successful turnaround" negotiated by the Canadian technology company.
Its board of directors said Chen - who joined BlackBerry in November 2013 - has repositioned the company by setting a new strategy and ensuring its execution.
BlackBerry has recently turned away from smartphones to focus on cybersecurity embedded software and services.
The company has regained financial stability since then.
The shares are currently up over 2% after news of Chen's contract extension.
Waterloo, Ontario-based group BlackBerry is to report its fourth-quarter results on 28 March.
