Umicore: science professor proposed as new board member
(CercleFinance.com) - Belgium's Umicore said on Wednesday its board has decided to propose Koenraad Debackere, a science professor, as a new board member at the group's upcoming shareholders' meeting on 26 April.
Koenraad Debackere - who teaches technology and innovation management at K.U. Leuven university - will replace Rudi Thomaes, who will not seek re-election.
On the executive committee, Marc van Sande, the firm's executive vice president for energy and surface technologies, will retire on 31 March after 38 years of service.
He will be replaced by Denis Goffaux, who has been chief technology officer since 2010.
