bpost: price of stamps to go up in 2021
(CercleFinance.com) - Belgium's bpost said it will increase the cost of sending letters next year, raising the average price for all domestic mail products by about 6% to offset the sharp fall in mail volumes and cover its fixed costs.
The postal company on Friday proposed raising the price of non prior stamps (delivery within 3 working days) to 1.10 euro each, with the tariff of the prior stamps (delivery next working day) rising to 1.60 euro each.
Also, the price for standardised items to an address within Europe will now be 1.85 euro for at least five stamps purchased, and 1.91 euro when the stamps are purchased individually, bpost said.
For items to an address outside Europe, the international tariff will be 2.07 euros when purchasing five or more stamps and 2.13 euros when the stamps are purchased individually.
More than 80% of customers now opt for a non prior stamp for their mail, bpost said, with 95% of customers buying a stamp sheetlet at the cheapest tariff.
