Agfa-Gevaert: returns to growth, shares strong

(CercleFinance.com) - Agfa-Gevaert's revenue rose for the first time since 2015, pushing the Belgian graphics group's shares higher on Wednesday.

The company said sales grew by 3% in the second quarter of 2019 (+1.6% excluding exchange rate effects), to 576 million euros.

All major growth engines - including the inkjet product range, the radiography business and the activities of the healthcare IT division - contributed to its strong sales growth, the group said.

The result from operating activities was 31 million euros, up from 27 million euros in the second quarter of 2018, it added. Net profit reached 15 million euros.

In its statement, Agfa-Gevaert said that the preparation for the sale of part of its healthcare business is progressing "according to plan." It expects the sale process to be launched in the autumn.

The shares are currently up 5.8% at 3.5 euros on Euronext Brussels.
