Gimv: first-half profit down in 'uncertain' economic context

(CercleFinance.com) - Gimv said that its net profit fell in the first half of its financial year, with the Belgian investment group citing the impact of an uncertain economic context.

Gimv made a net profit of 51.4 million euros in the first six months of the 2019-2020 financial year, compared with 62.5 million euros a year earlier.

In its statement, the Antwerp-based firm cites an uncertain economic context, characterised by geopolitical instability (trade wars, Brexit...), along with slowing investments in industrial capital goods (mainly in Germany) and by falling volumes in the automotive sector.

The value of its portfolio - which at end-September 2019 - included 53 companies in four countries - still rose by 8.3% to 1.2 billion euros.

Gimv's financial year starts on 1 April.
