KBC: Q2 earnings reach 692 million euros
(CercleFinance.com) - KBC has reported Q2 2018 earnings of 692 million euros, down from 855 million euros in Q2 2017, with the Belgian bank stating that a change in its accounting methods affects the comparability of part of these figures.
CEO Johan Thijs confirmed that this good performance, which has been repeated, is mainly due to the resistance of net interest income, the sound performance of non-life insurance and high dividend income (helped by seasonal factors.
He added that these positive factors partially offset the decline in income at fair value and income from trading, the slight decrease in commission income and the one-off negative impact of the "legacy" legal case.
