Solvay: partners Iberdrola in green electricity

(CercleFinance.com) - Solvay announces that it is teaming up with Iberdrola on a new project to supply green electricity to Solvay's plants in Tavaux and Saint Fons, France.

As part of the agreement, 172 hectares of land will be used to build a ground-mounted photovoltaic facility. The partners plan to sign a 20-year power purchase agreement.

The solar installation, built and operated by Iberdrola Renouvelables France, will occupy 77 hectares and will include approximately 100,000 photovoltaic modules.

It will produce around 75 gigawatts (GWh/a), making it one of the largest installations of its kind in Europe. 60% of the green electricity produced will be used for Solvay's industrial sites in Tavaux and Saint Fons in France.
