Solvay: pilot research unit inaugurated at La Rochelle
(CercleFinance.com) - Solvay has announced the inauguration of a new pilot research unit in its La Rochelle plant, which will enable it to accelerate the development of advanced inorganic materials for solid electrolytes.
The new unit will evaluate the industrial feasibility of materials used in the manufacturing process of so-called "all-solid" batteries, which are expected to replace lithium-ion batteries in the coming years in the automotive industry.
The pilot unit will also make it possible to support customer needs by delivering products on a semi-industrial scale. In this pilot, Solvay will carry out process studies to prepare the future industrialisation phase.
