Solvay: recycling solution for PVDC
(CercleFinance.com) - Solvay has said that it has developed a "revolutionary" solution for recycling polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC), a material used in the manufacture of multilayer packaging for food and medical products.
The group says that its scientific demonstration is based on a process for recycling industrial waste bi-oriented food packaging film that contains Ixan PVDC without compromising the excellent barrier properties of this polymer.
The Belgian chemist says that this is an important step towards greater sustainability and circularity of packaging and opens the door to other possibilities such as the recycling of post-consumer packaging containing PVDC.
