Schlumberger: the 'revolutionary' bioenergy project
(CercleFinance.com) - Schlumberger New Energy, Chevron Corporation, Microsoft and Clean Energy Systems today announced plans to develop a revolutionary bioenergy project with carbon capture and storage (BECSC) in Mendota, California.
The BECSC plant will convert biomass from agricultural waste into a renewable synthetic gas that will be mixed with oxygen in a combustion chamber to produce electricity.
Eventually, the site could remove some 300,000 tonnes of CO2 per year from the atmosphere, equivalent to the emissions from the electricity consumption of over 65,000 American homes.
The companies involved plan to immediately begin front-end engineering and design of the project, with a final investment decision set to be taken in 2022.
