IBM: announces joint AI development deal with AMD
(CercleFinance.com) - IBM and AMD on Wednesday announced a joint development agreement, which will focus on extending the security and artificial intelligence (AI) offerings of both companies.
The IT consulting group and the chipmaker said that the deal would entail cooperation on open-source software, open standards, and open system architectures to drive confidential computing in hybrid cloud environments.
Confidential computing is a technology that enables the data associated with running a virtual machine to be encrypted, including while workloads are running.
IBM and AMD said that they also plan to support a range of accelerators across high-performance computing (HPC), and enterprise critical applications such as virtualization and encryption.
The work between AMD and IBM researchers on joint development activities is already underway, the companies said.
