Qualcomm: acquisition in gesture recognition

(CercleFinance.com) - Qualcomm has completed the acquisition of Clay Air, a French start-up specialising in gesture recognition and hand tracking technologies.


The acquisition of this artificial intelligence specialist is expected to enable the US chipmaker to strengthen its "XR" technology, dedicated to virtual reality headset applications.

Founded in 2015, Clay Air has offices in Paris, Bordeaux, Los Angeles and Shanghai and has already signed several contracts with major industrial groups such as Lenovo, Bose, Renault and Faurecia.

The merger between Qualcomm and Clay Air, which had already working together, was made official by Corum Group, an M&A advisory firm that has a strong presence in the technology sector.
