Qualcomm: chips selected by BMW for driver assistance
(CercleFinance.com) - US semiconductor manufacturer Qualcomm Technologies announced on Tuesday that it has been chosen by BMW to equip the German carmaker's driver assistance platforms.
In a statement, the chipmaker said its Snapdragon Ride autonomous driving solution will be integrated into the Munich-based company's next-generation driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving systems (AD).
In particular, BMW plans to use Qualcomm's machine vision system-on-a-chip (SoC), as well as the central processing controllers developed by the Californian group.
After lunch today BMW shares were just underwater (-0.15%), while Qualcomm shares were up about 0.5% in pre-market trading.
