Qualcomm: buys high-performance computing expert Nuvia

(CercleFinance.com) - Qualcomm this morning said that it has acquired Nuvia, a Santa Clara-based company that designs chips for high-performance computing, in a move to deliver a new class of products for the 5G era.


The acquisition comes as 5G is further accelerating the convergence of mobility and computing, Qualcomm said in a statement.

Nuvia designs high performance processors, systems on a chip (SoC) and power management that are used in computer-intensive devices and applications.

Its products are expected to be integrated across Qualcomm's technologies, that power smartphones, next-generation laptops, and digital cockpits, as well as advanced driver assistance systems, extended reality and infrastructure networking solutions, the company said.

The deal price is approximately 1.4 billion dollars, before working capital and other adjustments.
