Qualcomm: Amon to succeed Mollenkopf as CEO

(CercleFinance.com) - US smartphone chip maker Qualcomm said that Steve Mollenkopf, its chief executive, will retire in mid-2021, with the head of its semiconductor business set to take over on 30 June.

Mollenkopf, who joined Qualcomm 26 years ago, has served as CEO of the San Diego-based company since 2014.

Cristiano Amon, his successor, joined Qualcomm in 1995. He is currently responsible for Qualcomm's semiconductor unit, which includes mobile, automotive and IoT chips, along with the company's global operations.

The executive recently oversaw Qualcomm's 5G strategy, it said.

Shares of Qualcomm rose 1.8% on Tuesday, building on gains of over 70% in 2020.
